Two people who carried themselves as police officers and stole a motorbike have been arrested in Ashaiman.

The victim spotted the two imposters riding his motorbike on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at about 8.30pm and raised an alarm for their arrest.

The Tema Regional Police Command told the media that Richard Demordzi Tamakloe, 35, and Godwin Agbolosu, 32, about a fortnight ago allegedly posed as cops and arrested the complainant and took his motorbike, under the pretext of taking it to the police station.

The Command’s Head of Public Relations Unit, ASP Dede Dzakpasu said investigations led the police to recover one police body armour, one taser, one pair of handcuffs, one police baton, two military caps and two Royal motorbikes – one unregistered, with the other having registration number M-25-GE 5665.

The Command told the media that the suspects were charged with falsely pretending to be public officers, stealing and unlawful possession of police accoutrements when they were arraigned before the Ashaiman District Court on 8th September 2026.

She said the court remanded the suspects and cautioned the public to be vigilant and to immediately report persons who unlawfully identify themselves as police officers or use police accoutrements without authority.
