The Ashanti Central District Police Command has convicted and sentenced a 22-year-old man, Christian Owusu, to ten years’ imprisonment with hard labour for robbery.

According to a press release issued on August 14, 2026, and signed by Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit, Ashanti Region, the conviction was obtained on the same day in connection with a robbery incident reported at the police station on July 21, 2026.

The statement disclosed that the victim reported that at about 12:21 pm on July 21, 2026, while heading towards Konkromase Township, she was threatened and robbed of her handbag containing her personal items and cash.

The incident was then reported to police at approximately 5:00 pm that day.

Following investigations, Owusu was arrested on August 4, 2026, and arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on August 7, 2026, presided over by His Lordship Kwaku Baah Frimpong.

He was charged with robbery, pleaded guilty, and was convicted on his own plea.

Before the sentence was passed, Owusu pleaded with the court for forgiveness.

The court considered his plea and sentenced him to the minimum term of ten (10) years’ imprisonment with hard labour.

He was subsequently handed over to the authorities of the Kumasi Central Prisons to begin serving his sentence.
