A police officer attached to the Upper East Region has been arrested for allegedly defrauding two mobile money vendors of a total of GH¢8,700.
According to a post by Crime Check on August 2, 2026, G/Sgt Isaac Asare Mensah, who is currently in custody, was arrested following reports that he collected electronic cash (e-cash) from the vendors but failed to make the corresponding physical cash payments.
He is alleged to have absconded after receiving the funds, leaving the vendors with significant financial losses.
"According to reports, he collected e-cash from them and bolted without paying the physical cash. He is said to have stolen from the vendors in total an amount of GH¢8,700," the post stated.

The Ghana Police Service has reportedly commenced investigations into the matter and detained the officer in connection with the alleged fraud.
