31‑year‑old Akwasi Awuah has confessed to stealing electrical cables worth thousands of cedis from uncompleted houses, claiming hunger pushed him into the act.

In a video shared on X on July 16, 2026, Awuah, who was caught with large quantities of the wires, admitted that he cuts and sells them to buy food since he has no job.

Dressed in black and captured sitting on the floor with the cables on his lap, he pleaded for forgiveness, explaining that the theft was his only means of survival.

“My name is Akwasi Awuah. I stole these wires because of hunger. I am pleading with you to forgive me. This is what I do to be able to feed,” he said.

The video has since sparked reactions on social media, with many users expressing sympathy over his plight while others condemned the act.

Some users urged him to find a job rather than steal and use hunger as an excuse, while others shared stories of relatives who had faced similar struggles.
