A 33-year-old man has been arrested after police seized several boxes of suspected illicit drugs during an operation in Tamale.
The suspect, Abdul Manan, was arrested at an over-the-counter pharmacy shop at Zujung, based on intelligence gathered by the Northern Regional Police Special Operations Team, known as Red Maria.
According to an adomonline.com report on may 25, 2026, a follow-up search of his shop and residence led to the recovery of the suspected drugs.
Items seized include: 32 boxes of 50mg Tramadol, 1 box of 250mg Tramadol, 1 sachet of 120mg Royal Tramadol, 1 sachet of 100mg Tramadol, 9 boxes of 32mg Astradol-P and24 bottles of Koffex
All the items have been preserved as evidence.
The operation was conducted by a 44-member team led by Chief Inspector Abu Issahaku as part of intensified efforts to curb drug peddling in the Tamale metropolis.
The Northern Regional Police Command reiterated its commitment to fighting drug-related crimes.
“The Northern Regional Police Command remains committed to fighting drug peddling and related crimes in the region. We will continue to carry out intelligence-led operations to ensure the safety and security of the public,” the report quoted them as saying.
Meanwhile, Abdul Manan is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
