Ashaiman police arrest 41 suspected criminals in dawn intelligence-led swoop

The Ghana Police Service in Ashaiman have arrested 41 suspected criminals during an intelligence-led operation aimed at clamping down on robbery and other criminal activities within the municipality and surrounding communities.

The operation, which was carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, May 20, 2026, targeted suspected criminal hideouts at Tsinagbe in the Ashaiman Municipality.

The exercise began at about 6:00 a.m. and was led by the Ashaiman Divisional Police Commander, ACP Sarfo Agyemang Badu, together with the Divisional Operations Commander, Supt Ransford Painstil and the Ashaiman District Police Commander, DSP Orlando Joseph Adzokpa.

The operation involved about 30 police officers drawn from the Ashaiman Division, the District Command, and the Divisional Formed Police Unit (FPU).

According to police, "the swoop forms part of ongoing efforts to reduce robbery incidents and other criminal activities in Ashaiman and its environs through intelligence-driven policing."

A total of 41 suspects, made up of 22 males and 19 females, were arrested during the exercise.

The male suspects include Louis Kyei, 30; Mawuli Aso, 26; Mohammed Ibrahim, 27; Kingsley Daniel, 23; Nuhu Mohammed, 31; Godsway Lewu, 25; Desmond Tetteh, 23; Desmond Asante, 24; Godwin Konotey, 28; Michael Tawiah, 27; Prosper Martey, 20; Selorm Gilbert, 21; Yovo Samuel, 20; Bismark Sam, 20; Kwame Mahama, 38; Godwin Honu, 24; Samuel Awatey, 24; Rashid Yakubu, 23; Emmanuel Stephen, 26; Joshua Okon, 29; Mohammed Awal, 24; and Frank Teye, 36.

The female suspects arrested are Grace Tetteh, 27; Happiness Johnson, 26; Purity Peter, 32; Wealth Obi, 29; Favour Lucas, 24; Sharon Adi, 28; Rita Okedurum, 27; Assurance Superior, 22; Vera Tetteh, 27; Gifty Ojo, 26; Millicent Tetteh, 27; Mary Apetorgbor, 18; Blessing Vovo, 18; Emmanuella Agbesi, 18; Gifty Adu, 22; Princess Oduwayo, 23; Vera Adonu, 26; Gifty Adulla Razak, 40 and Fresh Igwe, 30.

"Police also retrieved several items during the operation.

"The items include one pack of Royal cigarettes, two boxes of ORIS cigarettes, two plastic bottles containing yellowish soft drinks suspected to have been laced with narcotic substances, a pair of scissors, wrappers, several mobile phones, and an amount of GH¢3,323.00."

The police administration says all suspects will undergo screening and profiling, while those found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
