Three jailed 110 years for attacking, robbing fetish priestess at Baamang

An Nsuta Circuit Court has sentenced three men to a total of 110 years in prison for an armed robbery attack on a fetish priestess at Baamang near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

"The Nsuta Circuit Court handed down the sentences after establishing that the accused carried out a violent, armed attack on a 48-year-old fetish priestess at her shrine in Baamang near Kumasi", it stated.

According to the post, the three stormed the shrine of the fetish priestess armed with machetes and a pistol.

"The assailants, armed with machetes and a pistol, stormed the shrine, assaulted the victim, and forced her to surrender GH¢7,600 in cash and disclose her Mobile Money PIN, leading to an additional GH¢1,200 transfer", it stated.

The leader of the gang, Kofi Adu, received 50 years’ imprisonment. The court noted that his sentence was influenced by his criminal history, including a prior conviction.

Owusu Patrick was handed a 40-year jail term, taking into account an earlier related sentence, while Akwasi Agyei, identified as a first-time offender, received 20 years’ imprisonment.

"In total, the sentences amount to 110 years, underscoring the court’s firm stance on armed robbery and repeat offences", the post added.
