General Overseer of Elohim International Ministry, Prophet William Gyimah, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for allegedly issuing death threats against Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in a viral video.

The 49-year-old was arrested on April 7, 2026, during a targeted police operation in Kasoa in the Central Region.

Police say the arrest was executed by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET), following intelligence gathered through social media surveillance.

According to the police, the action became necessary after CVET intercepted a “high-priority viral video on TikTok and other platforms featuring the suspect issuing the threat”.

After his arrest, the suspect was transferred to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) under the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with ongoing investigations.

The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) also cautioned the general public and media houses against using their platforms to stir unrest or share content that could threaten the peace and security of the state.

“Prophet William Gyimah has since been handed over to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for further investigation.

“The police administration wishes to strongly caution the public and media houses against using their platforms to foment trouble or disseminate content that threatens the peace and security of the state,” a statement from the CVET read.

The police further assured the public that updates will be communicated as the investigation continues.
