A forensic investigation by the Cybercrime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has cleared Achimota School Senior Housemaster, Emmanuel Hanson, of allegations that he demanded sexual favours from a former student.
The controversy traces its origins to December 2025 when Hanson had earlier confiscated a mobile phone from a student, Musah Hafsatu Osmanu, in accordance with the school’s rules governing possession of phones on campus.
After completing her WASSCE examinations and leaving the school, Osmanu contacted Hanson on December 28, 2025, requesting the return of the device.

When he informed her that the phone had already been handed over to school authorities in line with established procedures, the conversation escalated.
Hanson later received an audio message in which threats were directed at him by a woman identifying herself as Osmanu’s mother, Daayimatu Abdallah.
Upon returning from the Christmas break, Hanson reported the threatening message to the Achimota Police Station. It was during the police inquiry that Osmanu and her mother first alleged that Hanson had made sexual advances through WhatsApp and demanded sexual favours in exchange for the phone. Printed screenshots were presented to the police to support the claim.
Concerned about the authenticity of the messages, Hanson petitioned the Cybercrime Unit of the CID and voluntarily submitted his mobile device for forensic examination.
According to the police investigative report issued on March 11, 2026, the analysis found no WhatsApp communication between Hanson and the MTN number attributed to Osmanu.
The report concluded that the alleged conversations never occurred.
Hanson’s lawyer, Emmanuel Dei-Tumi Jr. of the law firm Kulendi@Law, has indicated that his client will pursue all legal remedies available to address the circulation of what the police findings now suggest were fabricated allegations.
The matter is also expected to attract further police attention regarding the origin and dissemination of the screenshots that circulated widely on social media.
