The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has commended the Special Operations Team for their exemplary service in the Savannah region, describing their arrival as a turning point in restoring security and public confidence.
Speaking about the team’s recent deployment, the IGP recounted that when the officers arrived amid a crisis in Savannah, the President expressed immense satisfaction after viewing footage of their operations.
“When I showed the video of your arrival in the Savannah, the President was full of praises,” he said.
“He felt that something new had come to change the fortunes in Savannah.”
The IGP highlighted that the team’s performance was so outstanding that it drew admiration not only from the public but also from other security services, some of whom requested that the special team be deployed to assist in other areas.
“To the extent that people asked themselves, is that the police or something from somewhere else?” he noted.

He also emphasised that the presence of the team had a profound impact on the local community, which reportedly did not want the officers to leave due to the improvement in safety and order.
“Your arrival alone was marvelous. When you were living there, people didn’t want you to leave,” the IGP said.
