The Adabraka District Court has fined a driver, Evans Amankwa, 50 penalty units equivalent to GH¢600 after he admitted to driving carelessly and causing injury to his passenger.
Amankwa pleaded guilty to charges of careless and negligent driving which resulted in harm to Edmund Wisdom Azumah Kwaku.

Presenting the facts before the court, Inspector Irene Sackey explained that on February 2, 2026, at about 10:07 pm, Amankwa was driving a Daewoo Matiz saloon car with registration number GW 920-20 from Lapaz towards Kasoa.
According to the prosecution, when he reached the McCarthy Hill traffic light, he allegedly failed to exercise caution while attempting to move from the service lane onto the main highway. In the process, he veered into the middle lane.
An articulated truck travelling from the Odorkor direction subsequently crashed into the rear of his vehicle. The force of the impact pushed the small car into the opposite lane, where it collided with an oncoming trailer from the Kasoa direction.

The crash left both Amankwa and his passenger injured. They were rushed to the Weija-Gbawe Municipal Hospital, where they received medical treatment.
Inspector Sackey told the court that after investigations were concluded, Amankwa was charged and arraigned. She also noted that he has since settled the medical bills of the injured passenger.
