A man believed to be in his late 40s has been arrested at the Gomoa Dominase Onion Market in connection with the killing of a 50-year-old woman at Gomoa Potsin in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The deceased, identified as Habiba, is said to have been attacked in a bush while she was on her way to buy cow milk from Fulani herdsmen.

Sources say the suspect attempted to rape the woman and allegedly killed her after she resisted. The incident reportedly occurred while the victim was on the phone with her son, during which she raised an alarm that someone had attacked her and was trying to sexually assault her.

Information available indicates that the victim’s call and description of the attacker helped lead to the suspect’s arrest.

Eyewitnesses told Kasapa News that the suspect allegedly pinned the woman down and pressed her neck, causing her death.

Meanwhile, the Chief Imam of Gomoa Ojobi, Kasim Iddrisu, confirmed that the suspect has been transferred to the Central East Regional Police Command to assist investigations. The body of the deceased has also been conveyed by the police.

Investigations are ongoing.
