A family member of the late taxi driver Kwasi Dada has confirmed that the woman who allegedly shot and killed him is a police officer.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb on February 3, 2026, Solomon Somuah, a relative of the deceased, said the confirmation was made during court proceedings earlier in the day.

He disclosed that the suspect has been remanded in custody until February 25, 2026.

According to Somuah, the family was present in court when it was officially established that the woman who shot Kwasi Dada is a policewoman.

Kwasi Dada, a taxi driver, was allegedly shot dead on January 21, 2026, under circumstances that are still under investigation.

Reports indicate that bullets were found in his vehicle after the incident.

Earlier, speaking to GhanaWeb TV on January 22, 2026, the deceased’s brother, Yaw, said he was informed around 4:00 AM that his brother had been shot and taken to the Accra Central Police Station.

“When we arrived, we were told Kwasi Dada had been shot and his body had been taken to the Police Hospital. The suspect had been apprehended at the scene,” he said.

Yaw explained that his brother had been hired for a trip from Dansoman to Kasoa but made a U-turn into Tetegu, where the shooting reportedly occurred.

“I believe a misunderstanding led to her shooting him three times, causing him to die in his car,” he added.

According to the family, officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) later found bullets in Kwasi Dada’s car but no weapon belonging to him.

Questioning the level of force used, Yaw said, “Even if my brother had wronged her, why did she not aim for his legs or hands instead of killing him?”

The case has been adjourned to February 25, 2026, as investigations continue.
