A matron and a cook at Awaso STEM Senior High School have been apprehended for allegedly misappropriating food items intended for students.
The arrest was facilitated by Sebastian Obeng, the Municipal Chief Executive of Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai. Obeng acted on credible intelligence suggesting that food supplies were being diverted from the school’s stores.
Promptly, he alerted local law enforcement authorities, who conducted a search resulting in the recovery of substantial quantities of food at the cook’s residence in Atronsu.
The recovered items included 21 bags of rice, six gallons of cooking oil, 40 tins of tomato paste, four boxes of milk, sugar, maize, millet, gari, and other essential provisions meant for the students’ daily meals.
Nyamadi Benedicta and the cook are currently in custody at the Sehwi Bekwai Police Command, assisting with investigations.
