Koforidua, July 21, GNA - A magistrate's court in Koforidua, on Thursday granted a GH¢ 10,000 bail to be justified to Ama Duruwaa, a 34-year-old trader, charged for defrauding by false pretence and stealing.

Duruwaa, who pleaded not guilty, will re-appear at court on August 2. Police Inspector Emmanuel Bronya, told the Court presided over by Mrs Cynthia Wiredu that the complainant was a trader and resided at Oyoko, a suburb of Koforidua, where Duruwaa also stayed.

The prosecution said the complainant and her husband left for Kumasi about five years ago where she currently lives and work.

Insp. Bronya said on June 8, this year, the complainant had information that her photograph was with Hanna Duker also known as Aunty Esi, a license money lender, at Effiduase, a suburb of Koforidua.

The prosecution said the complainant was also informed that her name had appeared on a list of debtors produced by Duker. Insp. Bronya said the money lender also threatened to send the case to a powerful spiritualist to enable her (Duker) to collect her money.

The prosecution said that the complainant went to the house of the money lender to find out what was going on.

Insp. Bronya said the complainant was showed a list of names and pictures of clients, including her name and picture, who have taken loan of GH¢ 200.00 each with interest about a year ago, and it had attracted an interest of GH¢ 800.

The prosecution said the complainant detected that it was Duruwaa who stole the picture from her room and used complainant's name to obtain a loan.

Insp. Bronya said when the police arrested Duruwaa she admitted stealing the picture in her caution statement.
