A 26-year-old woman, Ekua Gyesiwa, is in the grips of Adum Banso Police in the Mpohor District for allegedly abandoning her one-and-half year-old baby boy in the bush.
The suspect, an indigene of Abura Dunkwa in the Central Region, would soon be arraigned before court for exposing child to danger.
The child was abandoned in the bush for four days without food and water.
Chief Inspector Edward Addo, a Station Master at Adum Banso, who confirmed the incident to the media on Wednesday, said George Minimsaa, a farmer, chanced on the child under a palm tree, naked with a piece of cloth beside him last Saturday, July 30.
He said the farmer informed the elders of the town who subsequently lodged a complaint with the police who led a search party to the bush and rescued the child on August 2, this year, at a village called “K Four”.
The child had been admitted to a private health facility at Adum Banso for medical attention.
The police said the mother of the child was arrested at a community called “K Nine” and placed in police custody pending trial.
Meanwhile, police interrogations revealed that the suspect abandoned the child because he felt sick too often and more so his parents had separated.
