Unemployed man jailed for theft

Kumasi May 9, GNA- A Circuit Court in Kumasi has sentenced a 19-year-old unemployed man to 36 months imprisonment for stealing three mobile phones at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

Issahaku Issifu pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful entry and stealing.

Police Chief Inspector Nana Seth Amofa told the court presided over by Mr Mensah Essel that Issifu on May 3, entered the Queens and Republic Halls of residence at the KNUST and stole the mobile phones valued at 3.1 million cedis.

He said some students who saw Issifu come out of one of the rooms of the Halls found the phones on him after they apprehended and searched him. Chief Insp Amofa said the accused was sent to the University security that also handed him over to the KNUST police station.
