Unemployed jailed for stealing

Nsuta (Ash), Oct 29, GNA - A circuit court at Nsuta has sentenced a 21-year-old unemployed to 72 months' imprisonment in hard labour for unlawful entry and stealing.

Kwaku Ketewah pleaded guilty to the charges. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Solomon Etrew told the court, presided over by Mr Uuter Dery that on May 3, this year, Ketewah broke into the room of Nana Owusu Kwarteng, Krontihene of Jamasi and stole his television set valued at one million cedis and went into hiding. He said the accused resurfaced on September 19 and again stole a Video deck valued at 600,000 cedis belonging to another person. Inspector said on September 23, this year, Ketewah was arrested at Jamasi while offering the video deck for sale. The court heard that he admitted the offence. The court ordered that both the TV and the deck, which had all been retrieved, be returned to the owners.
