Two remanded for stealing

A Half-Assini District Magistrate Court in the Western Region has remanded two accused persons into Police Custody for two weeks for allegedly stealing the property of a couple in Tikobo No.1.

The plea of the two Stephen Acquay aka Teacher Kabi 33, Labourer and Isaac Djeni alias Adjetey Sinapi 29, Galamsey Operator both fromf Tikobo No.1 were not taken and they would reappear in court on January 24.

The court presided over by Mr Abdul Majid Illiasu also issued a bench warrant for arrest of 3 others namely Brace, Nzemah and Anwiah who are at large.

Prosecuting, Police Detective Corporal Richard Amoah, told the court that the complainants in the case were Mr David Nelson and his Wife who live at Tikobo No.1 with the accused persons.

He said at about 2100 hours on December 31 last year, the family left home for watch night church service.

The Prosecutor said after the service, Mrs Nelson and her children returned home at about 0130 hours on January 1st 2017 only to detect the door to her bedroom had been forced opened and the locks damaged.

He said when Mrs Nelson later noted that her eight golden necklaces, six pairs of golden ear rings, three golden bracelets and one gold bar, two Kente cloths were missing and also fifteen half pieces of Holland Cloth valued at GH¢ 4,500.00 were also gone.

He said 25 yards of lace worth GH¢ 750.00, four bales of High-Target cloths valued GH¢ 16,000.00, five half piece of GTP Cloth worth GH¢ 700.00, cartons of soap, One carton of Milo, school bags and cash of GH¢ 170.00 were also stolen .

Corporal Amoah said Mr Nelson also detected that his Techno Smart Phone, wrist watch and personal effects running into thousands of Ghana cedis were also stolen from the room.

He said at about 1800hours on that day Acquay was seen by Mr Nelson's brother giving a tin of milo to someone in the town and was confronted as to where he got that tin of milo from, Acquay alleged that he bought it but could not tell from where and was therefore arrested. He said during interrogation Acquay mentioned Djeni and the others at large as his accomplices and led the Police to recover Six half-full Pieces of cloth, a Wrist watch, Two T-shirts, Five tins of Milo and a school bag from an abandoned room at Bonyere.

He said Djeni was later arrested from his hideout in Tarkwa.
