Two chainsaw operators remanded for stealing

Nyinahin (Ash), April 17, GNA - A magistrate's court at Nyinahin presided over by Mr Augustine Essah, has remanded two chainsaw operators for stealing two sheep and two fowls valued at 900,000 cedis. Akwasi Ayambira, 29, and Awuni Mensah, 29, pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on April 18.

Police Chief Inspector Isaac Napoleon Asherow told the court that on April 9, this year, the accused persons stole the two sheep and two fowls from the pen of Opanin Nimo, the complainant at Kwakyekrom near Nyinahin.

He said they had tied the animals in a bush to arrange for a vehicle to convey them to Nyinahin for sale.

The prosecution said the following day the unit committee members spotted the two accused person at dawn untying the animals, which had died.

Chief Inspector Asherow said when the two saw the unit committee members they took to their heels but were chased, arrested and handed over to the police.
