Two armed robbers have been convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison each by the Kumasi Circuit Court 4 for their involvement in a violent robbery attack in Atonsu Kuwait, a suburb of Kumasi.

According to a statement from the Ashanti Regional Police Command dated July 9, 2025, the two convicts, identified as Abass Kasim, aged 26, and Daniel Morro, also known as "China", aged 25, were part of a five-member gang that stormed a private residence at Atonsu Kuwait around 2:30 a.m. on July 31, 2021.

The gang, wielding a pistol and cutlasses, assaulted the victim by shooting him in the abdomen and inflicting multiple cutlass wounds.

They made away with several personal belongings, including One iPhone 11 mobile phone valued at GHS 5.500, One Samsung phone valued at GHS 500, Two Apple Watches valued at GHS 3,000, Two M.K. ladies' handbags.

An unspecified quantity of jewelries, 600 US Dollars and an unspecified amount of Ghana Cedis.

Following police investigations, Abass Kasim was arrested on August 12, 2021.

He admitted to his role in the robbery and led officers to the arrest of his accomplice, Daniel Morro.

A pistol believed to have been used in the attack was also recovered during the operation.

Both suspects were arraigned before the Kumasi Circuit Court on August 19, 2021, where they initially pleaded not guilty and were remanded into custody.

After prolonged legal proceedings, they were found guilty and sentenced on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

The court found them guilty on multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, unlawful entry, abetment of crime, and possession of firearms without lawful authority.

The 15-year sentences on each count are to run concurrently.

The convicts have since been transferred to the Central Prisons in Kumasi to begin serving their sentences.

Police say efforts are still underway to track down the three remaining suspects who remain at large.
