A 41-year-old man is currently wanted for questioning after allegedly shooting his 35-year-old wife over suspected infidelity.

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 17, at Anum in the Assin North District of the Central Region.

The suspect, Wahibu Bukari, is reported to have shot his wife, Faustina Ackom, during a heated dispute stemming from allegations of infidelity.

According to a graphic.com.gh on August 17, Faustina sustained gunshot wounds in her left inner arm and breast. She is currently receiving treatment at St Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu.

The couple, who have been married for 10 years, have four children together.

Eyewitnesses narrated that around 1:00 am on Sunday, they heard Faustina screaming for help.

One of the witnesses, Lydia Yeboah, stated that Bukari, who had reportedly been ill for some time, suspected his wife, a trader, of being unfaithful.

The confrontation was allegedly triggered when Bukari discovered several phone numbers on Faustina’s mobile phone.

He reportedly woke her around 12:30 am to question her, believing she was involved with the individuals linked to those numbers.

Witnesses said that during the ensuing argument, Bukari shot Faustina as she attempted to flee.

Her cries for help drew the attention of neighbours, who rushed to her aid.

Bukari is said to have fled the scene immediately after the attack and remains at large.

Residents believe he may have escaped to Assin Fosu, Kushia, or Twifo Praso.

Meanwhile, police investigations are currently underway as a team from the Assin Fosu Divisional Police Command has visited the victim at St Francis Xavier Hospital to assess the severity of her injuries and collect firsthand information to aid in the ongoing inquiry.
