Trader jailed for stealing

A 19-year-old trader who broke into a taxi driver’s room and stole money and electronic items, valued at 113 Ghana Cedis, has been jailed two years in hard labour by the Akim Swedru Circuit Court.

Jibrill Wahhib pleaded guilty to unlawful entry and stealing.

The prosecution told the court presided over by Mr. Yaw Atta Sampong that Mallam Hamza Adams, is a taxi driver and lives with Wahhib at Akim Swedru Zongo.

That, on February 24, this year, the driver went to a mosque to pray, but when he returned home, he detected that thieves had forcibly opened his door and stolen cash of 80 Ghana Cedis, pen drive worth 20 Ghana Cedis and card reader worth 13 Ghana Cedis.

According to the prosecution, in the evening of the same day, Mallam Adams visited a friend by name Mr. Akade to download music, where he found the missing card reader.

Mr. Akade told the driver that Wahhib sold it to him at a cost of 10 Ghana Cedis but he had not paid.**
