Thieves steal from the home of a policeman

Sunyani, July 15, GNA - Some thieves on Friday night entered the home of Chief Inspector Christopher Tawiah, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer at Baako-Niaba in Sunyani and made away with some personal belongings.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency in Sunyani Chief Inspector Tawiah said he and the family did not hear any movement by the robbers but woke up earl= y in the morning to find that some of the mosquito-proof nets at the windows in the house were burnt.

He said the thieves could not enter the room after making attempts to force open the main door and therefore poured out water in three big containers in the corridor and made away with them.

Chief Inspector Tawiah said even though the police were working hard to clamp down on criminals, robbery cases reported to the police was so alarming.

He asked the public especially landlords to critically investigate th= e background of people they rent their houses to and should also check their movements to know the kind of work they do. He said criminals 93are very close and are the very people living wit= h us in our communities and any suspected characters or groups of people we see in our areas should be reported to the police". He stressed that the police alone could not deal with the criminals without public support in the form of information that could lead to their arrest.
