A man suspected to be a thief took to his heels after realising that staff of Societe Generale (Kokomlemle branch) had cross-checked and found a transaction he hoped to make as fraudulent.

According to eyewitnesses, the gentleman in a blue-black suit was at the banking hall to withdraw money with a cheque from another's account. As staff called the account holder for verification, the gentleman upon realizing that his attempt had failed run from the banking hall.

His attempt to escape failed as he was chased by some motor riders.

But for the quick intervention of the police who according to reports, were some hundred metres away from where he was caught, the gentleman could have been lynched by some of the gathered.

Officials of the bank have refused to comment on the issue as they would want the police to carry out investigations.
