Tenant in court for arranging robbery of co-tenant

Accra, Aug. 27, GNA - John Kweku Ampah, a tenant who mobilised persons to rob his co-tenant on hearing that he had brought GH¢3,000 home, on Wednesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court charged with attempting to commit crime. Ampah got to know about the money when he eavesdropped on conversation between the complainant, Mr Emmanuel Boadi, and his friend. He pleaded not guilty. The court presided over Mr Iddrisu Mahamadu remanded Ampah into prison custody to reappear on September 9. Mr Samuel Ansah, an Assistant State Attorney, said the complainant, was a building contractor who lived at Oblogo, near Weija and lived in the same house with Ampah. On June 30 Mr Boadi went to the house with GH¢3,000 and later in the night Mr Boadi's friend visited him and during their conversation he informed his friend that he had brought GH¢3,000 home. Ampah, on hearing about the money, telephoned his friend, Mohammed Adeleha, and asked him to mobilise people to rob Mr Boadi. Adeleha feigned interest and passed on the information to the police at Mile Seven and they went with Adeleha as scheduled. At about 0400 hours on July 1, the police team and Adeleha knocked on Ampah's door and he pointed at Mr Boadi's door for the "robbers", who were police personnel, to steal the money.
