Student before court for alleged defilement

Accra, Aug.2, GNA - An 18-year-old barber accused of allegedly defil= ing an 11-year-old

girl on Tuesday appeared before a Circuit Court in Accra. Thomas Geshie charged with defilement had his plea reserved. He would re-appear before the court presided over by Mrs Doris Bempong on August

16. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah told the court that the victim

resides at Gbawe with her aunt, while the accused resides in the same area. ASP Acquah said on July 15 at about 1200 and July 25, at about 1600 hours this year,

the victim closed from school and on her way home met the accused who lured her to his

house. Geshie took the victim to his room, inserted his fingers into her vagina and had sex with

her. Prosecution said after the sexual act, the victim informed her aunt wh= o lodged a

complaint with the Domestic Violence and Victim's Support Unit (DOVVSU) a= t Odorkor,

Accra. The police issued the victim with a medical form for examination and treatment, after

which the accused was arrested and after investigations charged with the offence. 2 Aug. 11
