Son connives with mother to kill father

Hohoe (V/R), Nov. 24, GNA - A Hohoe Circuit Court, has remanded Godwin Aziaba for allegedly murdering his father of DonyoAziaba, a cocoa farmer at Asuboi in the Kadjebi District of the Volta Region.

His mother, Mary Aziaba was also remanded for abetment of crime.

Their pleas were not taken and would reappear on November 30.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Benjamin Dadzie, told the court that Godwin slashed his father in the head and neck several times until the deceased fell unconscious.

He said prior to the incident, Godwin demanded financial assistance from his father to enable him roof his single room at Asuboi.

ASP Dadzie said the deceased had sold some bags of cocoa beans worth GH¢ 50.00 on October 28, hence the motivation of the suspect to request the money.

He said at about 1900 hours the deceased visited his neighbour after supper, and unknown to him, his son was trailing him with a matchet he collected from his mother and butchered him...

The prosecution said as deceased bled and lying unconscious, Godwin searched and removed the proceeds from his pocket and disappeared into the dark night but was soon smoked out by the youth of the town.
