Seventeen remanded for breaching the peace

Hohoe, Sept. 28, GNA - A Krachi Magistrate's Court has remanded 17 people, including two students of the Krachi Senior High Technical School, for acts intended to breach the peace of the public. Alhassan Iddrisu and Tofik Gariba, principal mastermind of the action, pleaded guilty to the charge of offensive conduct intended to breach the peace and breaching the peace.

Their sentence has been deferred for October 10. The students, Baba Abdulai and Adulai Hedi, have been admitted to bail with a surety each, after they pleaded not guilty with the 13 others. They 13 are, Shamsu Abosuo, Baba Gbandaan, Baba Immah, Salou Sulemana, Gambari Tasimu, Shasinu Tafianu and Oluman Safianu. The rest are, Sly Molein, Abidina Hamadu, Mubarak Jiril, Yakubu Tanko, Rabiu Shaibu and Abdul Razak Issah.

Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Alex Ofori told the court that the accuse= d persons and suspects engaged in open confrontation conducive for the breach of peace on some section of the principal street of Kete-Krachi on Septembe= r 24.

He said a joint Police and Military team, which quelled the disturbance, arrested them leading to their prosecution after Police investigations.
