Robbers inflict machete wounds on Kumasi Poly students

Armed robbers wielding machetes, on Tuesday, raided Glendals Hostel on the Agyei Twum Street at Asafo in Kumasi, which is occupied mostly by Kumasi Polytechnic (K-Poly) students, and robbed the occupants.

The miscreants, who have of late intensified their operations at Asafo and Asem/Fante New-Town area, succeeded in bolting away with four phones of the poor and helpless female students in the incident which occurred around 11:30 p.m.

Eva, a second year hospitality student of K-Poly, one of those who sustained machete wounds, disclosed that the robbers, three in number and in their twenties, wielded a gun and machetes.

She appealed to the police to intensify their night patrols in the area to forestall a recurrence of the incident, the second of late. Eva was robbed off her tablet and handset.

The Chronicle has gathered that Peace Hostel also suffered a similar raid recently, where a second year fashion designer student was shot in the leg by unknown persons in an operation around the Mends Hostel.

Just a week ago, a lotto seller was reportedly robbed of GH¢900.00 by masked gunmen. Residents of Asem, notably Kwaku Mensah Avenue, are also said to be at the mercy of armed robbers on a daily basis.

Auntie Akosua, a resident, says she has been compelled to stop attending morning devotion due to the activities of criminals, because her friend was robbed when she was attending morning devotion at dawn.

She appealed to the Assembly Member and the police to intervene and save them from the hands of these criminals.
