Residents of Segbe-Sagbado, a community on the Ghana-Togo border, have apprehended a young man for allegedly beheading his employer during a dispute over salary.
Ebenezer Manso Cudjoe, a reporter known as DCE, broke the story on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, stating the suspect and his boss had a misunderstanding.
The suspect, 25-year-old Augustine Amuzu, came to Ghana from Benin for work and was one of the deceased’s employees, distributing sachet water in the area.
The reporter stated that the suspect’s boss went out to purchase food items for them to prepare and eat.
However, while in his room, Augustine allegedly hit his boss in the head with a club, slit his throat, and severed his head.
Augustine then put the head in the Aboboyaa—the motorized tricycle he used for deliveries—and drove away.
Residents found him washing the Aboboyaa after spotting traces of blood. They brought him back to his boss’s residence, where they discovered the rest of the body in a pool of blood.
After a severe beating, the suspect was handed over to the police. DCE reported that Augustine threw the severed head into a river, but residents later found it.
The deceased’s body is now at the morgue, and the suspect is in police custody, assisting with the investigation.
