The Kpando Circuit court in the Volta Region has found the President and founder of Youth for Accountable Governance, Carl Mawuli Atitse guilty of indecent assault, threat of life and kidnapping.

The court presided over by Justice Nana Brew fined Mr Atitse GH¢4,200 or in default three years imprisonment with hard labour.

The facts of the case are that Carl Mawuli Atitse who is currently a teacher at Kwamekrom Day Senior High School befriended a young lady (name withheld) in Kpando.

The lady for personal reasons severed the relationship with him.

Not happy with the lady's decision, Mr Atitse went to her place of work at Boman City in Kpando and asked for them to talk things over only to force her into a car at knife after midnight.

According to the lady, the culprit then drove to a bushy area in a nearby town, Aveme which is in the adjourning district.

She further revealed that around 1am, Mr Atitse allegedly stripped her naked, raped her and threatened to mutilate her genital so no man could have intimacy with her. He tortured her ignoring her cries and pleas for help.

She was able to get away when a timely phone call came through to inform Mr Atitse that his wife was in labour.

The young lady on reaching Kpando reported the case to the Kpando police, leading to the arrest and arraignment off Mr Atitse.

Mr Atitse a self-acclaimed anti-corruption campaigner has been quoted as claiming he has a dossier on the Police and the Judges in Kpando.

His group, Youth for Accountable Governance, is a pressure group whose aim is to rally the youth to ensure accountability.
