Police in the Ashanti Region are investigating a robbery incident in which a Mobile Money vendor was attacked, robbed, and shot by assailants.

According to the Nkawie District Police, the incident occurred on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at about 8:00 PM.

The victim, identified as Akua Afriyie, 40, was reportedly assaulted by Kwabena Bioh and an accomplice while conducting her business.

Her sister, Georgina Antwi, reported the matter to the Nkawie Police Station around 8:45 PM.

Police officers, together with the complainant, proceeded to the Essuowin Model Health Centre, where the victim was receiving medical care.

Medical examination revealed that she had sustained two gunshot wounds to her lower right abdomen.

Afriyie has since been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for further treatment, the statement said.

Police say strenuous efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspect and bring those involved to justice.
