The Accra Regional Police Command has commenced investigations into a viral video circulating on social media in which an unidentified individual is seen obstructing police officers in the lawful discharge of their duties.

In separate videos, the same individual is also heard issuing threats against the Ghana Police Service, a development the Command has condemned.

A statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the Head of Public Affairs at the Accra Regional Command, said such actions not only constituted criminal offences under Ghanaian laws but also undermined police authority and threatened public order.

“The Command wishes to condemn in no uncertain terms such acts of interference and issuance of threats, which have no place in a law-abiding society,” it said.

The police noted that obstructing officers in the performance of their lawful duties, as well as issuing threats against public officers or institutions, were punishable offences and would not be tolerated.

The Command has, therefore, launched a search to identify and apprehend the suspect for prosecution and urged the individual involved to report to the nearest Police Station to assist with investigations.

It advised the public to refrain from interfering with law enforcement officers

and channel any grievances through the appropriate legal avenues.

The police assured of their commitment to maintaining law and order, while upholding the rights and safety of all citizens.

“Anyone with information that may assist in this investigation is encouraged to report to the nearest Police Station or contact the Police through the emergency numbers 18555 or 112,” the statement said.
