The Western Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one suspect in connection with an armed robbery attack on a gold-buying shop in the Mpohor District on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
According to a statement signed by Superintendent Olivia E Adiku, Head of Public Affairs at the Regional Police Headquarters, Sekondi, the gang of robbers stormed the shop, making away with an unspecified amount of money.
In the course of the attack, one individual sustained injury.
Police foil GH¢1.3 million gold robbery attempt
Police disclosed that the injured victim is currently responding to treatment, while efforts are being intensified to apprehend the remaining members of the gang who are still on the run.
“The Western Regional Police command is on the manhunt for a gang of armed robbers who attacked a gold buying shop and robbed them of unspecified amount of money and injured one person in the Mpohor District in the Western Region on Saturday 16/08/25.
“One suspect has been picked and is assisting in the investigation, whilst strenuous efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects. The injured victim is responding to treatment.
“We would like to assure the public that the perpetrators will be arrested and be made to face justice, “the statement said.
