Photographer charged for insulting chief

Kwasi Asamoah Frimpong, a photographer and information centre operator at Tanodumase in the Sekyere South District, Ashanti Region, on Thursday appeared before the Nsuta Circuit Court for offensive conduct and threat of death against Nana Osei Asibey Bor Katakyie II, Chief of Tanodumase.

He pleaded not guilty to the two counts and was granted bail of 5000 Ghana cedis with one surety.

The court, presided over by Mr David P.W. Amedior, before adjourning the case to September 25, warned the suspect not to use the centre for any offensive conduct until the final determination of the case.

Inspector Simon Bravo, prosecuting, told the court that on July 27, at about 4.30 am, the suspect, who own the local information centre at Tanodumase, insulted the chief and his elders on his platform accusing them for selling lands in the town without thinking of the future development of the town and also threatened them with death thus inciting the town's people against the chief and his elders.

He said the chief reported the case to the police at Kona, who after investigation, charged the suspect with the offence.
