A 27-year-old apprentice identified as Akuffo-Addo has allegedly murdered his master at Daboase in the Wassa East District in the Western Region of Ghana.

According to Fox FM’s Kwamena Finn, the deceased, a 72-year-old palm wine tapper called Coffie was killed by his apprentice over a dispute over GH¢300.

Speaking on Angel FM’s Midday News on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the reporter said a misunderstanding about the suspect's share of GH¢300 accrued from the sale of alcohol, led to the apprentice slashing the throat of his boss in a gruesome manner.

“The two have been working together for a long time. However, a misunderstanding about money ensued between the two. He (Coffie) was supposed to give Akuffo-Addo (his apprentice) GH¢300 but Akuffo-Addo realised that the man was bent on cheating him. The man, however, sought to explain that the people who came for the drinks they brewed, took it on credit for a funeral and are yet to make payment, hence pleaded with Akuffo-Addo to exercise patience,” he said.
