Operator in court for stealing chainsaw machine

Akim Swedru (E/R), May 23, GNA - Prosper Kudohia, a chainsaw operator, charged with stealing, has been remanded in prison custody by the Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Birim South District.

The 27-year-old operator pleaded guilty to stealing chainsaw machine valued at GH¢1,200.00 which is the property of Mr. Lawrence Twum, a trader. Kudohia, who would reappear on June 2, explained to the court that he was arrested on May 13, this year on the same issue and promised to buy a new chainsaw machine for Mr. Twum in four months time. Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah told the court presided by Mr. Kofi Akrowiah that the complainant is a trader at the Akim Oda Timber Market, while the accused lives at Akim Awisa.

He stated that sometime in October last year, Mr Twum and Kudohia entered into agreement that would allowed Kudohia to work with the chainsaw machine and the profit shared between them but in December 22, same year (2009) Kudohia breached the agreement and that no money was sent to Mr. Twum.

Inspector Appiah said Mr. Twum went to Kudohia to collect his machine at Akim Awisa, but Kudohia sent him to a nearby bush in Akim Oda Community Six, where according to Kudohia he kept the machine, but it was nowhere to be found and a report was made to the police.
