Notorious criminal arrested at Oda

Koforidua, April 8, GNA - The Eastern Regional Police Command last Thursday arrested Kwabena Domena, described as a notorious criminal, at his hideout in a house at Akyem Oda Old Town. Domena initially attempted to escape by jumping over a wall but the police shot him on the right ankle and arrested him. Police Corporal Gideon Boateng of the Regional Public Relations Unit told the Ghana News Agency that Domena was currently receiving treatment at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Koforidua. Cpl Boateng said on February 19, the Akyem Oda Police at about 1000 hours had information that three men were seen at the Akyem Oda Government hospital seeking treatment for bruises all over their body. He named the three as Kwame Korankye, 14, a pepper grinder, Kwaku Asante, 18, driver's mate and Michael Boateng, 16, potter. Cpl Boateng said the three men were later arrested and sent to the Akyem Oda District police station where upon interrogation they admitted that they were involved in robbery and through that they sustained the injuries.

They mentioned Domena as their gang leader who at that time was then at large. Cpl Boateng said the police intensified its patrol to search for Domena and other perpetrators until he was arrested from his hideout. The three persons arrested earlier were put before the Akyem Swedru Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah, on February 20 and remanded in prison custody.
