New Juaben Municipality records 417 crime cases in September

Koforidua, Oct. 12, GNA - The New Juaben Municipal Police Command recorded 417 crime cases in September this year. The figure is a decrease of 126 cases as compared to figures recorded the previous month.

The cases includes 165 assaults, 112 stealing cases, 39 frauds, 35 death threats, 18 offensive conducts and others. This was disclosed by the newly posted New Juaben Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Tefutor L. Kaletsi, at his first interaction with media personnel in the municipality in Koforidua on Tuesday. He said out of the reported cases, 46 had been closed, 25 prosecuted at the law courts with six people being convicted. Superintendent Kaletsi said 19 of the cases were awaiting trial whiles 340 of them were still under investigations.

He said one of the constraints facing the police in the municipality was the lack of service vehicles, adding that, the police personnel were more often compelled to conduct their duties on foot or by using their own vehicles.

He called for co-operation between the police and the press to help in the control of crime in the municipality.
