NPP constituency organiser remanded for alleged chainsaw assault on farmer

The Constituency Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ofoase Ayirebi Constituency, Samuel Agyei Donkor, popularly known as Rabbi, has been remanded into police custody for allegedly assaulting a farmer with a chainsaw.

The incident happened at Akyem Bontodiase in the Eastern Region when the accused, a timber dealer, reportedly went to fell trees near the town’s public cemetery.

According to a report by starrfm.com.gh, the farmer, Kofi Boakye, confronted Donkor and demanded to know whether he had authorisation to harvest timber from the site.

The confrontation escalated into a heated exchange, during which the accused allegedly picked up a chainsaw and attempted to attack the farmer.

Although the victim managed to escape, he reportedly sustained injuries to his upper back.

The matter was subsequently reported to the police, leading to the arrest of the accused.

Donkor was charged with assault and arraigned before the Akyem Ofoase District Court, presided over by Benjamin Bennet-Attabrah.

He has since been remanded into police custody to reappear on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

The victim has also since been treated and discharged from the hospital.
