The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has arrested Emmanuel Ofori, the prime suspect behind a series of fraudulent social media accounts impersonating the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat.

According to official sources, Ofori allegedly created multiple fake profiles across various platforms, which he used to deceive unsuspecting individuals into making payments under the guise of securing scholarship offers.

His arrest follows weeks of investigation into complaints lodged by victims who were misled by the fraudulent accounts.

A post on X (formerly Twitter) confirmed the development, stating, “Suspect behind multiple fake social media accounts impersonating the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Emmanuel Ofori, arrested by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).”

In response, the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat has issued a public advisory urging anyone who may have fallen victim to the scam or made payments to the fake accounts to report the incident immediately and provide supporting evidence.

“The Secretariat advises all individuals who may have fallen victim to such scams or made any form of payment to the said fake accounts to report immediately with supporting evidence,” the statement read.
