Musician jailed seven years for abduction and defilement

Godsway Dzandu, alias Armingo Marley, a 23-year-old musician who abducted and defiled a 13-year-old female student in Ho was on Monday sentenced to seven years imprisonment by a Circuit Court in Ho presided over by Madam Priscilla Dikro.

Dzandu pleaded not guilty to charges of abduction of a child under 18 years and defilement but was found guilty by the court.

Prosecuting, Police Corporal Abigail Serwaa said in December, 2018 the accused met the victim (name withheld), a JHS two pupil at the Ho Sports Stadium and proposed to her.

She said the accused then gave his mobile phone number to the victim to call him anytime she comes to town.

The prosecution said on January 05, 2019, the victim called the accused in the morning and he directed her to his house and kept her there till January 08, 2019.

She said the victim later narrated all that transpired between her and the accused to her guardians.

The prosecution said the grandparents of the victim who were her guardians reported the matter to the Police and investigations revealed that the accused had sexual intercourse with the victim twice during the period.
