Motor rider remanded for defilement

A motor rider, accused of defiling a 15-year old girl after offering her lift, on Tuesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

Ruben Dunyoh, 19, who was charged with defilement, has, however, denied the charge.

The Court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku remanded Dunyoh into police custody and he is to reappear on December 3.

The Court is expected to deliver its verdict on Dunyoh as evidence from all the witnesses have been taken.

Prosecuting Detective Inspector J.B Asante told the Court that the complainant was the victim’s mother who lived with the victim at Ashalaja, a suburb of Amasaman.

Dunyoh resides at Agbazo, near Ashalaja.

The Prosecution said on November 6 at about 1:30pm the accused met the victim at the Denkyira Football Park and told her that if she wanted to go home, he was ready to offer her lift on his motor bike.

Prosecution said Dunyoh offered the victim the lift to his house at Agbazo and had sexual intercourse with her.

After the act, prosecution said Dunyoh asked the victim to dress up and go home.

He said the victim then revealed her ordeal to her mother when she got home, and the matter was reported to the Police at Amasaman Police Station.

Detective Inspector Asante said the Police issued a medical report to the victim so she could undergo treatment and the matter was later referred to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit at Tesano for further investigations.

During interrogation, Dunyoh admitted having sex with the victim.
