Mobile phone thief in Church jails 12-month

Awutu (C/R), May 23, GNA - Mr Kofi Ahiabor, presiding over the Awutu District Magistrate Court, on Wednesday sentenced Abdul Amadu Agbo, a technician to a 12-month imprisonment in hard labour for stealing three mobile phones in Church. Agbo who pleaded guilty, stole the mobile phones valued GH¢185 belonging to some members of the Apostolic Continuation Church, Kasoa. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Seth Anyan told the court that sometime in March 2008, the accused introduced himself to the Church as a Muslim who wanted to convert to Christianity. He said he was welcomed and accepted by the Church. Inspector Anyan said, Agbo voluntarily decided to sweep the Church's mission house and later took advantage and stole the mobile phones and absconded. When he was reached on one of the stolen mobile phones, Agbo promised to return them but which he did not and was arrested later by the police.
