A Ho Circuit Court presided over by Madam Priscilla Dikro has remanded Thompson Agbesi, a former Mobile Banker of Amuga Rural Bank for allegedly stealing GHC 68,904.46 belonging to the bank.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Agnes Ahiable said the accused was a former Mobile Banking or susu Collector with the bank with the responsibility of collecting monies from customers who were mobile money contributors.

She said Agbesi has also the responsibility of depositing monies collected into the Ho branch of the Bank.

The Prosecution said in July 2017, some customers started withdrawing their monies from the bank when they realised that the entries in their pass books about their contributions were not lodged in their accounts.

The Prosecution said an audit inspection of the accused's returns to the bank between the periods 2015 to 2017 revealed the misappropriation.

She said a report was made to the Police and the accused was arrested and in his caution statement admitted to the offence and refunded GHC 3,000.00.
