Man stabbed to death by Lotto vendor

Aflao, Oct. 28, GNA - Adelashi Nyatsikor 34, a Lotto Vendor, last Friday stabbed his neighbour to death and inflicted multiple knife wounds on three others who had intervened in a quarrel between him and his wife at Avoeme-Yorkoe, a suburb of Aflao. The deceased was identified as Koblavi Hatorgbi, 32. The wounded, who are on admission at the Ketu District Hospital, were Yawa Dekpeku, 38, Kudzo Dekpeku 29, and Kwasi Anani 38, who was operated on to save his life. Nyatsikor is in police custody assisting in investigations. Mr Ahmed Issah Yakubu, Aflao District Police Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that Nyatsikor, who lived in Avoeme-Yokoe where the deceased and the injured also lived, participated in some customary rituals last Friday at Viepe, a suburb of Aflao.

He said at about 2030 hours that day, Nyatsikor went to where his second wife lived at Avoeme-Yokoe and banged on the gate. Mr Yakubu said the banging on the gate drew the attention of Etsevi, a tenant in that house, who confronted Nyatsikor over his conduct resulting in a quarrel between them. He said Nyatsikor's wife intervened drawing the anger of her husband who picked a quarrel with her accusing her of infidelity for allegedly supporting Etsevi. Mr Yakubu said Nyatsikor held his wife by the neck and pulled out a knife to slit her throat. He said Nyatsikor's wife yelled for help drawing some neighbours including the deceased and the wounded persons to her rescue. Mr Yakubu said Nyatsikor then stabbed Hatorgbi on the shoulder near the neck and on his wrist before turning on the others stabbing them several times before he was overpowered. He said Hatorgbi was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital where he and the other victims were rushed to. Mr Yakubu said Nyatsikor threw away the knife but witnesses confirmed that he did have a knife which he used in stabbing his victims. Meanwhile the Police had taken custody of Bella Hatorgbi, six years and Akwele Hatorgbi three, the deceased's two children whose mother had died. Their relations were alleged to have refused to take care of them.
