A 45-year-old farmer, Samuel Abanga, has been shot dead by suspected armed robbers at Pamuruso, a farming community in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

According to a report by adomonline.com on September 1, 2025, Abanga was returning home from his farm when the incident occurred.

His wife, Hawa Mohammed, said residents had earlier heard sporadic gunshots in the area before news of her husband’s death reached her.

“We heard the gunshots but didn’t know what had happened until I was told that my husband had been killed. I am devastated,” the report stated.

The exact circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear, but Abanga’s lifeless body was later found along the road leading to his home.

The killing has thrown the community into a state of shock and heightened fears over what residents describe as a growing wave of armed robbery attacks in the district.

They lamented that this is not an isolated case, stressing that similar incidents have been recorded in recent months.

Residents have since been appealing to the Ghana Police Service to step up security measures, including the mounting of checkpoints and intensified patrols, to protect lives and property in the area.
