Man in court for defilement

A lotto writer, who allegedly defiled a 13 year-old girl, and hid her under his bed from which she became unconscious has been put before an Accra Circuit Court, charged with defilement.

Gideon Yaw Nutekpor after compelling the victim to go under his bed, reportedly locked his door and went out.

However, on his return, he raised the alarm that somebody was hiding under his bed.

When the victim was rescued, she was unconscious and had to be rushed to the Amasaman Government Hospital, where she narrated her ordeal after gaining consciousness.

Nutekpor has denied the offence before the court, presided over by Ms Patricia Quansah.

The court, however, remanded him into Police custody to reappear on September 3.

Inspector Grace Bandoh, the prosecutor, told the court that the victim lived with her father at Kpobikope, near Amasaman, in Accra, while Nuterkpor also resided in the same area.

On August 10, this year, the prosecutor said at about 1230 hours, Nuterkpor lured the victim into his room and had sex with her.

After the act, the Inspector said Nuterkpor forced the victim under his bed and went outside for some time.

When the accused person returned, he raised the alarm that somebody was hiding under his bed.

The Prosecutor said some witnesses who went to rescue of the victim found her unconscious and they rushed her to the Amasaman Government Hospital.

Inspector Bandoh said when the victim regained consciousness, she narrated her ordeal to the medical officer and it was also confirmed that the victim had been defiled.

Nuterkpor was arrested and in his caution statement denied the offence.
