Man defiles minors

A Bolgatanga Circuit Court has remanded a 26-year-old man, Abdul Aziz Ibrahim into custody for allegedly defiling four minors in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

The ages of the victims range from 11 to 14 and are said to have all dropped out of school.

The suspect, Abdul Aziz Ibrahim, was reported to have had several sexual rounds with them, one after the other, on the same day in the same room, any time the four vulnerable girls came to him together.

The suspect after one of his sexual encounters with the victims promised them an amount GHC50, which they were to collect on Monday April 15, 2013, if they kept quiet over their sexual intercourse with him.

On Monday April 15, the children as usual went to the suspect for their money in a group, but the suspect failed to produce the money and rather asked them to come back on Tuesday April 16, 2013 for the money, which the children agreed and left. On April 16, 2013 the four minors allegedly appeared in the room of the suspect for their money, and instead of giving them the money, he had sexual intercourse with them which resulted in one of the girls bleeding profusely as they left the suspect’s room, without the money.

The four girls, as usual did not report the suspect to any adult, but as they discussed their ordeal among themselves, a passer-by heard the discussion and after some interrogations, reported the case at the Bolgatanga Municipal Police Station, leading to the arrest of the suspect on Wednesday April 17, 2013.

A police source told DAILY GUIDE that the suspect was not a first time offender and that he had other pending cases with the Police, also about defilement of minors.

The suspect has since been remanded in a lawful Police custody and is expected to reappear before the court on Wednesday May 8, 2013, for continuation of the case.
